WEEKLY EVENTS: November 7, 2014 – November 13, 2014

Denver!  Last night I went to the Starz Denver Film Festival Kick-off Party at Cirro and it was gobs of fun.  In addition to boatloads of booze and hott people, SoundDown Party – Denver’s Silent Disco Company was also on-site, bringing the F-U-N.  If you’ve never tried a silent disco before, it basically makes you feel like when those crazy kids in Footloose are finally allowed to dance.  I highly recommend it.  (And my apologies to Cirro for completely destroying their [dance] floor.)  The night ended with late-night pizza from Cart Driver, which was also amazeballs.  Mamma mia, I heart you Denver #weedsauna

Although the party technically started last night, there are still beaucoup bands to see this weekend, including The Legendary River Drifters (reunion), Hollow Talk (reunion), Brainhammer (reunion), and Jermaine and the Sex Party.  Tickets are just $10 – $12 each night.

The Way Fair is a First Friday art show and fundraiser benefiting The Wayfaring Band.  Modeled after the World’s Fair from days gone by, this family-friendly event will feature art, live music by Casey James Prestwood and the Burning Angels, delicious barbecue, and adult bevvies.  With hands-on activities, dancing, and a bustling silent auction, the Way Fair promises to be an inclusive event that will delight the whole family.  The food, drink, and entertainment are FREE, but plan on spending some loot at the art sale and auction!

The news rings true!  The Atomic Cowboy will be opening a third location in the Highlands.  And to celebrate this milestone, they are hosting a biscuit bus tailgate before the Denver Broncos game on November 9th!  Bring the whole family and enjoy FREE biscuits, drinks, balloons, and face painting for the kiddos.  Score.

Another 100,000 people will be moving into the area in the next 5 years and many people are choosing to live in vibrant urban environments with few parking spaces.Councilman Brooks will moderate a panel to talk about alternatives to driving and what is needed to help mitigate parking tensions in Uptown Denver.Car2Go, ZipCar, and eGo car share companies will waive their membership fees for everyone who signs up at the Nov 11 Neighborhood Assembly. The legacy of PeaceJam continues and you can support their amazing work by joining them for this exciting and inspiring evening.  This event will feature two Hero Award Honorees, Cleo Parker Robinson and Dennis Gallagher, and the Colorado premiere of Children of the Light.  Children of the Light is the first film to tell the life story of Nobel Prize winner Desmond Tutu, one of the fathers of modern-day South Africa.  $15 for general admission with additional ticketing options.
