Tuesday, January 31, 2017 @ 5 – 9:30pm: Raise a Pint to Raise the Voice at Epic Brewing Co.
Once every month, Epic donates proceeds from all taproom sales to a local charity. This month, that charity is Denver VOICE, an organization “committed to being an agent of social change by empowering homeless, impoverished, and transient individuals through our Vendor Program.” Drink up to help support this worthy cause and enjoy a musical performance by Denver Voice supporter, Igaus Davis.
Wednesday, February 1, 2017 @ 11am: FRONTMANIAC Release at Black Shirt Brewing Co.
Black Shirt releases a double dry-hopped version of their Frontman IPA. With over five pounds of Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops per barrel this beer is “bursting with tropical fruit notes, bright citrus characters, and dank field grass.” The beer will be available on draft and in 32-ounce crowlers during the month of February.
Thursday, February 2, 2017 @ 3 – 9pm: Clan Warrior Release at Odyssey Beerwerks
Back in May, Arvada’s Odyssey Beerwerks took home a gold medal at the World Beer Cup in the Scotch Ale category for their Warrior Scotch Ale. The beer—”forged in the smoky depths of a Highlands castle, perched over a deep loch, our Wee Heavy is crafted to be bold, sweet, and showcase a blend of specialty malts”—comes in at 9% ABV and will be available in 22-ounce bombers for the first time.
Friday, February 3, 2017 @ 6 – 10pm: White Stout Release at Factotum Brewhouse
Factotum has created a White Stout aged in a wheat whiskey barrel from Bear Creek Distillery. Dubbed Rope-A-Dope, the beer is partly an homage to the boxing technique famously employed by Muhammad Ali against George Foreman in 1974’s Rumble in the Jungle. For flavoring, aroma, and dry-hopping, experimental hop EXP 06300 was used, which imparts qualities of cocoa, tropical and stone fruits along with jolly ranchers. Cacao nibs and coffee beans from Huckleberry Coffee were also used.
Saturday, February 4, 2017 @ various times: National 2×4 Day at various locations
For the second year running, Wyoming’s Melvin Brewing will celebrate their award-winning Double IPA, 2×4, on February 4, 2017. View all local events here.
Saturday, February 4, 2017 @ noon – 10pm: Brut La Grande Release at Bruz Beers
Resembling a fine champagne, Biere Brut is a seldom-seen style of beer in the United States. Bruz brings the unique brew to Colorado with Brut La Grande, a 12.1% ABV “champange beer” served in a flute and accompanied by a piece of chocolate. According to the brewery, “Brut La Grande is light and airy with a silky mouthfeel, creamy pinpoint carbonation and a complex, spicy, bone-dry finish.”

Due to popular demand, Renegade is extending their beer and Girl Scout Cookie pairing to span an entire week. A $12 ticket gets you four beers paired with four cookies. Pairings run from noon to 10pm, Monday through Friday and all day on Saturday.

Matt Sandy, a self-proclaimed “Beer Gadabout” and Certified Beer Server, has been enjoying beer since he was of legal drinking age. Having been born across the pond where “legal drinking age” is a relative term, let’s just say he washed down a shandy or two while still in short pants. He moved to Denver in 2007 and immediately took up residency at the Great Divide taproom. Since then, he’s enjoyed exploring all of the craft corners of this great town and in this column will highlight weekly beer-related events that you should consider drinking in.
