WEEKLY EVENTS: July 26 – August 1, 2013

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.  So you may have noticed that I am now posting events on Fridays.  It just works better for my life and hopefully it doesn’t funk up your qi.  Peep this week’s event and make a point to party down in RiNo, experience some local ghetto goth, eat Colfax, watch the new Pussy Riot documentary, ride yer bike, and/or watch Adventures in Babysitting, while eating free ‘za.  Ya heard?  (Plus, check-out the Westword’s 10 things to do for $10 in Denver blog for free/low-cost events this weekend.)

A $5 entrance fee gets you access to free beer, free cocktails, free wine, pizza, pool times, music, napkins, and sunshine (sunshine not guaranteed).

Friday, July 26, 2013 @ 6pm – 12am: Final Friday with Megafauna

This “music walk/urban bazaar” oozes with creativity and community.  Live art, music, vendors, interactive street media, food trucks, and pedi cab tours…what more do you need on a Friday night?  (Aside from Ryan Gosling pedaling your pedi cab; but let’s face it, that is never going to happen.)

Friday, July 26, 2013 @ 8pm – 1am: Pussy Riot Grrrl Dance Party + documentary screening at The Mercury Cafe

8pm: Screening of the new documentary, Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer
9:30pm: Short discussion of the documentary + performance by The Manxx
10pm: DJs/dancing/balaclava-making/letter-writing and more!
All ages welcome; $5 – $15 duggested donation.

Saturday, July 27, 2013 @ 2 – 5pm: Beer & Pie Pairing at Denver Beer Co.

For a $12 fee, get 3 mini-pies paired with 3 beer tasters.  There will also be a pie eating contest. The pies are being made by the Maple Street Pie Company and this event will be held in the DBC barrel room.

Saturday, July 27, 2013, doors 8pm: BLKHRTS at the Marquis Theater

Reppin’ Denver, the three MCs of BLKHRTS will entertain your face off.  If you have been thinking that you need more live “ghetto goth” in your life, this is the perfect way to get your fix.  You will leave a better person than before you arrived.  Also appearing are boyhollow, the ReMINDers, and Widowers.

Sunday, July 28, 2013 @ 11am – 2pm: Get Back to the Garden at The Garden

This is more than just a meal.  Tickets include a complimentary drink upon arrival, full garden tour, cooking demonstration, a 4-course meal, and live music.  Advanced tickets are $45 via Eventbrite and $60 at the door, if available.  $10 from each ticket and 10% of cash bar sales will benefit Slow Food Denver.

Sunday, July 28, 2013 @ 4pm: Il Magnifico Cinema Di Denver: Episode 2 at the Deer Pile

Il Magnifico Cinema Di Denver is back! And even more magnifico! Once again, there will be snacks from Rocket Fizz, comedians, films, games, and now prizes to go with said games!  Come on down to eat some candy and watch some movies! It’s all free!  Comedians: Bradley Galli, Kristin Rand, Nathan Lund, and Tim Messenger.

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 @ 5:30 – 8:30pm: Tasty Colfax

Sample the rich and varied cuisine along one of America’s most colorful byways. Purchase a $20 ticket ($25 day of the event) and go from restaurant to restaurant, sampling a diverse selection of the most tantalizing East Colfax eateries.  Try selections from tacos at Odelay to biscuits from the Denver Biscuit Company and Pizza from Fat Sully’s.   Plus enjoy live music from The Whales, Orange Peel Moses, The Wild Riders and more as you stroll Colfax.  And when it’s all said and done, pick-up your free movie ticket at the SIE FilmCenter and then hit the after-party at the Park House.

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 @ 7pm: Loops Bike Ride at Larimer Lounge

Loops is a Tuesday night bike ride throughout central Denver. The ride covers approximately 15 to 20 miles and makes 3 to 4 stops along the way. Riders are encouraged to ride at their own pace and meet at the stops that are posted on their site. The ride meets every Tuesday night at Larimer Lounge (27th & Larimer).  Come out, ride, make friends, and have a good time.

Wednesday, July 31, 2013 @ 9pm – 1:45am: A Night of Morrissey at Beauty Bar

Even though Morrissey ultimately canceled his show in Denver (after re-scheduling multiple times), you do not have to be deprived.  Come join the crew at Beauty Bar while they spin his influences, the musicians he influenced and the music he created.  No cover all night; buy any shot & get a free PBR.

Thursday, August 1, 2013, happy hour at 6pm, movie at 7:30pm: Hey Girl presents: Adventures in Babysitting at SIE FilmCenter

Free pizza, board games, and girl talk! Happy hour starts at 6pm with complimentary beer from Great Divide.  Free pizza, free beer, and Adventures in Babysitting?  It’s just like real babysitting!  (Except without the bratty kids.)
