WEEKLY EVENTS: June 27, 2014 – July 3, 2014

A $5 entrance fee gets you access to free beer, free cocktails, pizza, pool times, music, napkins, unicorns, and magic.

Friday, June 27, 2014 @ 6 – 10pm: Final Friday Food Truck Fiesta in the parking lot of Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew

This event is boasting 8 food trucks (yes 8!), beer from Our Mutual Friend Malt & BrewDiebolt Brewing Company, and Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery, wine from Mile High Winery, cider from Stem Ciders, music by DJ Shawn Green, salsa dance lessons by Mark Reagan Salsa, activities for kids, and more!  PLUS, the money raised from the event will support local schools. Friday, June 27, 2014 @ 7 – 9pm: Museum Quality Drinking at the MCA Denver

Tonight’s museum rooftop party includes live music from Prism Waves and some of the sweetest views in town.  If you haven’t been to this rooftop yet, you seriously need to change that – NOW!  It’s a summertime must.  $5 admission.

Saturday, June 28, 2014 @ 9:30am – 1:30pm: Le Jardin Secret at Bistro Vendome

Le Jardin Secret is not your average summer market.  At this French-inspired chefs’ market, foodies can shop for dairy, meat, bread, produce and other goods – all with a mimosa in hand.  Think perfect tomatoes, French cheeses, grass-fed tenderloins, and artisanal bread.  Free parking is available on the top levels of the Larimer Square Garage (14th and Market Streets) during market hours to the first 40 Le Jardin Secret customers.  Customers must ask for a validation pass from the Mile High Business Alliance representative at the Le Jardin Secret welcome booth.  FREE.

Saturday, June 28, 2014 @ 11am – 8pm: FNCY FKNG TIGR turns 8! at Fancy Tiger

@ 2pm – 12am: One-Year Anniversary Party at Illegal Pete’s South Broadway

Illegal Pete’s South Broadway is turning one and they will be celebrating with a day of music, beer, tequila, vodka, food, and magic (bring your own magic).  New Belgium Brewing will be on-site providing pours of their drafts for a $10 donation until the kegs run out.  There will also be vodka tastings from Deep Eddy, tequila tastings from Dulce Vida, and custom Illegal Pete’s/New Belgium hats!  Partygoers will also have the chance at winning a Burton snowboard, New Belgium Brewing schwag, Illegal Pete’s gift cards, and other goodies.  Mile High Soul Club will be spinning records from 6 – 9pm and then from 9 – midnight there will be live music from Chris Dismuke and the Gin Doctors unplugged.  Best of all, this ish is FREE!

Enjoy a LoHi night out while your kids have a fun evening with the Freyja Project.  A kid’s yoga class, fun activities, and a healthy snack will be provided, while you do you.  For kids ages 4 – 14.  $25 for one child; $15 for each additional sibling.

This Saturday, Channel Z will be presenting Basket Case at the Alamo Drafthouse Denver, a film in which a young man carrying a big basket that contains his deformed Siamese-twin brother seeks vengeance on the doctors who separated them against their will.  Fun!  Hosted and curated by Keith Garcia & Theresa Mercado.  Tickets are $11.

Sunday, June 29, 2014, doors at 11:15am, movie at 12pm: Last Sunday’s Cinema at the McNichols Civic Center Building

Last Sunday’s Cinema is a monthly event that features two blockbuster movies shown in one of Denver’s hippest historic buildings.  And this month’s screening is FREE!  Beer, wine, candy, popcorn, sodas, and water are all available for purchase.  The first movie shown will be Finding Nemo, followed by The Lego Movie.  First movie begins at noon, doors open @ 11:15am, and no metered parking on Sundays!

Pizza for Peaceful Prairie is a fundraiser for the Eastern Colorado treasure, Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary, which is a safe haven to formerly farmed animals and a vegan advocacy/education center.  Friends of the sanctuary, vegans, vegetarians, animal lovers, and pizza lovers alike are all welcome to come together and share an all-you-can-eat vegan pizza buffet at the tavern for only $10!  50% of pizza sales will go directly to the sanctuary, and there will also be vegan drink specials!

Come celebrate the Caribbean weather with a vegan Caribbean feast at this month’s Chomp!  For just an $8 – $10 donation, enjoy a heaping plate of delicious vegan food, based on the chosen monthly theme.  This month’s menu will feature jackfruit tacos with a cabbage slaw, cajun chickpea crab cakes, pineapple quinoa salad, and for dessert, coconut ice-cream topped with caramelized plantains – yuh-um!  They will also be serving a mai tai punch to wash it all down.  Feel free to BYOB.  This monthly community vegan dinner is open to all; you don’t need to be a card-carrying vegan to attend.

This pre-holiday concert/firework extravaganza will feature patriotic and pop favorites from MIX, CU Denver’s award-winning a capella group; the legendary Hazel Miller Band; and the beloved Denver Municipal Band.  Lawn seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; arriving early is highly encouraged, as are blankets or low-rise concert/beach chairs.  Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnics; concessions will also be available on-site.  The event will take place rain or shine.  FREE.
