¡Arriba, abajo, al centro, pa’ dentro! Join Museo de las Americas and Tequila Proximus for a very special Spanish Happy Hour. Help give a lasting toast to the El Brindis Remixed exhibit and all of the playful characters featured, as this exhibit will be retired. Tickets are $5 for the public and $3 for Museo members.
Just Playing is the first exhibition in a five-part series of exhibitions entitled Play it Forward, which explores the importance of play through contemporary art, programs, and community art installations and how play impacts our everyday lives by promoting community participation, personal wellness, and civic happiness for all ages. Roll is a monthly themed roller-skating party in the EXDO Event Center, complete with skate rental, mind-blowing audio and visuals, and of course, sippy cup cocktails for one helluva party! Tonight’s theme is Black Light Roller Rave…so don your brightest whites and prepare for a night filled with skating, drinking, dancing, karaoke, and ping-pong! Drop your child off to tinker the afternoon away. Kids will have access to tools, materials, and art supplies to build and play to their little heart’s content while you get your errands done run. Participants will learn the basics of tool safety and workshop etiquette under the supervision of a licensed art teacher and momma of two little makers. Appropriate for ages 4+; kids ages 2 – 3 years may attend with an adult. $25 per session. Space is limited to 8 participants each week; pre-pay online to reserve your spot.
The Denver Tool Library is throwing a thank-you party for its members (and community people who may be curious about the project). Come celebrate with live music, beers and, of course, ping-pong. Face Man, Strange Americans, and Blanket Empire will be performing outdoors, so dress appropriately. Free for members; $5 or a tool donation for non-members.

This Sunday, hide from your weekend regrets with the Alamo’s Vampire Brunch, featuring the film, Near Dark. This event features a vampire-inspired brunch menu (duh), 2-for-1 mimosas, and a special in-theater musical performance by Ghosts of Glaciers starting at 11am. Tickets cost $12.50. Vampire Brunch occurs every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.

It is called the “Marade”, and it has been held every year for the past 30 years on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. This year, there is a call to WEAR BLACK at the Marade to affirm the connection between King’s legacy and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Although musicals have been a permanent part of the lexicon since near the beginning of cinema, amongst film buffs and cinephiles the genre often gets generalized and left out in the cold. In this new film series, participants will watch a wide variety of musicals from a few different countries, highlighting how the musical evolves to fit a culture’s needs at the time.
