This weekend is PACKED with local and national comics, with an additional party/good-time vibe. Friday, August 21, 2015 @ 5pm: Let’s Talk About Firkins at Ratio Beerworks

B-Side Music Fridays is a live music series where guests can enjoy an intimate rooftop performance by Denver’s top indie musicians, craft cocktail in hand. Tonight’s performers are Adam Baumeister + Lascivus. Happy hour from 5 – 7pm; live performances from 6 – 8pm. Free for MCA members; $5 for regular people.

Friday, August 21, 2015, doors at 8pm, music at 9pm: Kitty Crimes at Black Shirt Brewing Co.

Friday, August 21, 2015 @ 9pm – 1:30am: Roll: Saved By The Bell 90s Skate Party at the Exdo Event Center

Roll is a monthly themed, old-school roller skating party, complete with flashing lights, music, karaoke, sippy cup drinks, dancing, and ping-pong! This month’s theme is Saved By the Bell 90s Skate Party. Guests will be taken back to the 90s with an epic roller-skating party filled with neon colors, oversized shirts, and unstrapped overalls. FREE admission between 9 – 10pm and $5 afterwards (or get advance tickets, which include skate rental). This event is 21+; sign your waiver ahead of time and avoid the line!

Friday, August 21, 2015 @ 9pm – 2am: Lipgloss at Syntax Physic Opera

Beautiful babies of Denver! Come dance it out at Denver’s favorite indie rock dance night. This is the only event where you can lose it to Neil Diamond, Bloc Party, Queen, The Supremes, and LCD Soundsystem all in one night.  They’ll be serving up $2 PBRs + $4 vodka/gin drink specials, and giving away tickets to see Empire of the Sun and The Tallest Man On Earth around midnight. Only $5 to dance dance dance.

Saturday, August 22 & Sunday, August 23, 2015: Third Annual Polish Food Festival at Saint Joseph’s Polish Church

You say pierogi and I say pass the sour cream! Come on out to the historic Globeville neighborhood to partake in the Third Annual Polish Food Festival. (There is not even an Facebook event for this jammy jam, so you know it’s legit.) Homemade pierogis, gołąbki, potato pancakes, grilled kielbasa, Polish beer, ice cream, and more. Plus there will be live music, dancing, and kids’ activities to boot, so plan on making a day/night of it! FREE admission. Saturday: 12 – 9pm; Sunday: 12 – 7pm.

Saturday, August 22, 2015 @ 10am – 1:30pm (or until goods run out): Le Jardin Secret at Bistro Vendome

Le Jardin Secret is not your average summer market. At this French-inspired chefs’ market, foodies can shop for dairy, meat, bread, produce, and other goods – all with a mimosa in hand. Free parking is available on the top levels of the Larimer Square Garage (14th and Market Streets) during market hours to the first 40 customers. Customers must ask for a validation pass from the Mile High Business Alliance representative at the Le Jardin Secret welcome booth. No entry fee.

Saturday, August 22, 2015 @ 10am – 2pm: Great American Water Balloon Fight at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

Don’t miss out on the biggest water balloon fight in the city! The 2nd annual Denver Great American Water Balloon Fight is the “coolest” event this summer (get it?) Doors open at 11:30am with a beer garden, kids activities, lawn games, and food trucks. Water balloon fight(s) start at 1pm. Tickets run $10 – $30. Proceeds benefit Team Tassy.

Saturday, August 22, 2015 @ 11am – 12pm: Yoga at Ratio Beerworks

This isn’t your mama’s yoga class. Participants will be flowing to the tunes of Hot Water Music and Fugazi to name a few so come ready to party. Registration costs $15 and includes one brew. Please bring your own yoga mat and towel. 21+

TheBigWonderful returns to bring you yet another season of live music, local food, craft beer + cocktails, beach volleyball, yard games, and even a play area for the kiddos. Host Mara Wiles brings together some of the top comedians for a unique showcase-meets-improv extravaganza. Performers start with their normal sets, but then must contend with the improv stylings of the Funky Brunch players and/or a task they must accomplish as they finish their set. This special HPCF edition will feature Steven Brody Stevens, Noah Gardenswartz, Josh Androsky, Sammy Arechar, Kate Willett, Sean Jordan, and Kristin Rand. Accompanied by a ’70s-hits-spinning DJ and a food truck for your brunching pleasure, this show is the perfect way for you to start off the final day of High Plains with a bang. This show is FREE but seating is limited, so get there early.

Saturday, August 22, 2015 @ 3 – 5pm: High Plains Comedy Festival: Cartoons & Comedy at the Mutiny Information Cafe

Cartoons & Comedy is a nostalgic comedy show created by Christopher Baker, that features comedians riffing on your favorite cartoons and commercials from the 80s and 90s. This special High Plains edition will feature Power Violence (Whitmer Thomas, Budd Diaz, and Clay Tatum) and one of my absolute faves, Sean Patton! As always, the show is FREE and there will be loads of cereal for everyone. Get ready for a sugar high and all of the laughs.

Saturday, August 22, 2015 @ 4 – 8pm: 3rd Annual Brewer’s Alley at Rialto Cafe

This Saturday, the alley between Curtis and Champa on the 16th Street Mall will be taken over by 10 craft brewers, live music, appetizers, and lawn games. Come enjoy tastings from Grimm Brothers Brewhouse, Rockyard Brewing Company, Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery, Upslope Brewing Company, Kokopelli Beer Company, Prost Brewing, and more. Entertainment provided by That Damn Sasquatch. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
