Friday, October 23 & Saturday, October 24, 2015: Night Bazaar at 2450 Larimer Street
From the folks that brought you TheBigWonderful comes the new & improved Night Bazaar! This time around, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious homemade food, craft beer and cocktails, artisan vendors, soulful music, and a food truck garden on both Friday and Saturday nights. Come shop, sip, and eat. No cover and a great way to start your weekend. The bazaar is open on Fridays from 5pm – 2am and on Saturdays from 5pm – midnight.

Come on out for a night of unrehearsed, unscripted theatre, featuring some of Denver’s best improv performers! Start your weekend on a real high note when you take the stage. Mashing-up your favorite karaoke bar with musical theatre, willing audience members are invited to grab the mic and sing their hearts out, resulting in unexpected plot twists. Saturday, October 24 & Sunday, October 25, 2015 @ 10am – 5pm: Cherry Arts Festival at the Stanley Marketplace
Come see the much talked-about Stanley for its very first public event! The festival includes a national juried art show with more than 70 exhibiting artists in 13 media categories, including ceramics, mixed media, digital art, photography, metalworks, and drawing. In addition to the art, visitors can enjoy live entertainment, a kids art shack, home design vignettes, culinary demonstrations, and local eats. Visitors can also experience Chandelier Harp, the interactive light sculpture created by Boulder-based and internationally renowned artist, Jen Lewin. FREE and open to the public.

How do you define the place you live in and how has that definition changed over time? Denver VOICE and Write Denver are collaborating for an innovative workshop looking at the theme Then&Now. Selected writing from the workshop will be published in an upcoming issue of the VOICE – pretty neat! This event is FREE and open to the public.

Animals wearing costumes! Guests are welcome to bring simple costume items for the goats, bring (human) kids in costumes, and/or wear one yourself. There is no entry fee however, attendees are asked to bring a pumpkin, uncarved, to feed the goats, pigs, chickens, and turkeys. It’s one of their most favorite treats! There will also be open-fire grilled cheese + jam sandwiches for sale, along with hot beverages and guests are welcome to BYOB.
Sunday, October 25, 2015 @ 2 – 5pm: Harvest Festival at Highlands Square
This afternoon, Highlands Square will be crawling with costumes, cuteness, and community. The event is FREE to attend but there will be a $5 all-inclusive Kids Zone Fun Pass, which gives your child access to a bounce castle, face painting, train ride, carnival games, craft station, and a paint-your-own pumpkin station. Live music by Yo Mamas & Papas and a super festive photo booth, compliments of Bloom Portraits, will add to the fun. Great food and beverage options are being provided by Diebolt Brewing, Fire on the Mountain, Novo Coffee, and Baker St. Pretzels. Additionally, guests can peruse the artisan market, which will host more than a dozen vendors offering everything from artisan foods to candles to sweets and jewelry. Costume contest is at 4pm; pets are welcome!

Held the last Monday of every month, Freak Train has remained Denver’s most unique live entertainment experience for over 13 years. Hosted by the lovely and talented GerRee Henshaw, Freak Train showcases area performers from rank amateurs to seasoned pros, as they take the stage for five minutes. Each performer or group gets to do pretty much anything they want to do. Well, almost. It might be the funniest five minutes of your life; it might not. Either way, it’s worth experiencing. $5 cover, includes FREE keg beer. Yep.

The Denver Public Library pays tribute to all the beautiful monsters and their creators. These four films represent unique moments in the development of the early horror genre. Loaded with symbolism, style, and gothic atmosphere – each of them contributed to the monster movie lexicon that Hollywood has drawn from ever since. The series continues tonight with a screening of Dracula’s Daughter. FREE.

This fall, the Gardens presents its newest event, Glow at the Gardens. The York Street location will light up the night with jack-o’-lanterns and luminaria-lined pathways, winding through the grounds to reveal larger-than-life pumpkin displays. Storytelling, scavenger hunts, face painting, live music, fall-inspired cocktails and mocktails, and other fall-themed activities will round out the evening. Admission runs $6 – $12.
